Carl Andre's Zinc Magnesium Plain

Carl Andre is evidently one of the first artists to think of sculpture in this way. Take a look here at what I'm responding to.

Juno Receiving the Head of Argos by Jacopo Amigoni (1730-32)

The guy handing Juno the head of Argos is Mercury.

 

And my response, an issue that boys the world over would have kept hidden under their mattresses.

Battle of Alexander at Issus, by Albrecht Altdorfer (and my response)

Albrecht didn't skimp on detail.

Alessandro Algardi's marble bust of Cardinal Paolo Emilio Zacchia

Algardi was one of the biggies in the sculpture world during the 17th century. 

He sculpted the Cardinal here somewhere around 1625.
